Old IPLANRIO – Municipal Company of Computer Science and Planning, now IPP – Municipal Institute of Urban Planning Pereira Passos, hired global services of Digital Mapping of a total of 700 km² in urban areas and 26 km² in areas of slums.<\/p>\n
ESTEIO worked in Digital Mapping of 220 km² of neighborhoods of Rio de Janeiro Municipality and 13 km² of areas where live low income population.<\/p>\n
These services originated from an Aerial Survey at 1:8.000 scale for urban areas mapping and a 1:4.000 scale to map the slums areas.<\/p>\n
The low flight (1:4000) was performed due the complexity of photogrammetric features interpretation and extraction in the area of slums where buildings and road system does not follow any pattern. <\/p>\n
The main features were extracted from aerial models by analytical and analog stereoplotting. The aerial photos covered areas of neighborhoods of Rio de Janeiro city.<\/p>\n
Later, these aerial models digital files were joined and again separated in Cartographic sheets as final products.<\/p>\n
As supplementary work of mapping, a survey was performed to obtain the identification number of buildings to be part of a future GIS database.<\/p>\n
