The use of Satellite images at ESTEIO relies on more than 10 years in various services, such as:

1. • Forest theme mapping from Landsat images;
   • Theme mapping from Landsat images for purposes of environmental impact study;
   • Generation of image charts with Landsat images for purposes of updating conventional cartography and as background for GIS;
   • Generation of image charts from SPOT images for the province of La Rioja in Argentina.

ESTEIO uses a specific Remote Sensing software called ERMpper which enables, amongst other tasks:

1. • Geographic reference of satellite images and digitalized aerial photographs;
   • Image rectification;
   • Generation of image charts and orthophotos;
   • Supervised and unsupervised classification for purposes of theme mapping;
   • Radiometric treatment and image balancing;
   • Automatic mosaic creation and confection of photo indexes;
   • Perspectives and three-dimensional models;
   • Multilayer of the terrain;
   • Fly−through;
   • Hypsometric maps;
   • Confection of charts inserting and manipulating vectorial files in various formats.
