The Company IMAGEM − Soluções de Inteligência Geográfica (Geographic Intelligence Solutions), hired ESTEIO’s services to perform stereocompilation of approximately 50 km² of Building Heights in a central region of Belo Horizonte/MG.

Building Heights is a product that represents the height, shape and position of buildings in a given urban area. For perfect use of information, this must be produced from stereo photogrammetric stereocompilation and digital modeling systems, and, preferentially, must have recent results from aerial photogrammetric surveys, which ensure that data generated are up-to-date, in addition to cartographic accuracy to the product.

In this work executed by ESTEIO, the Building Heights database was generated taking into account all buildings identifiable in photogrammetric images and altimetrically evidenced as being higher than 10 meters. The entire observation also took into account the confirmation and stereocompilation of existing details on the top of the buildings, especially water reservoirs and machine room, and enabling a faithful representation of these buildings with the purpose to detail potential obstacles for radio frequency signals.

To identify interesting edifications, whose minimum height was 10 meters, the LASER mapping technology was used, that is, with special filters is possible to separate vegetation from buildings, as well as determine height intervals;

The Building Heights database was also composed of the Digital Terrain Model (DTM), generated from the LASER points file.

With the DTM base it was possible to establish information with the value of the Z share of the foundation and top of the building, and thus define the height of each one of them;

The final result was the presentation of SHP files with the identification of these shares in form of attributes, which can be viewed in geospatial data processing software, as in the image below:
