The Road System Surveying of Paraná state was accomplished with the aim of setting up a GIS of the whole system of highways of the state.
The composition of this system was made through the surveying of the axes of all the federal and state highways.
It was surveyed approximately 15.000 km of highways and secondary roads with kinematic GPS, getting coordinate points to each 20 m along the axis of the same ones.
The contracting party had as objective to compose this work together with urban road and streets axes already obtained from municipalities mapping
ESTEIO accomplished GPS survey along all Federal and State highways of Paraná.
After the field survey, the roads axes represented by spatial coordinates of points were treated by drawing software to insert interference points and other important attributes (road name, gas stations, police stations, bridges, crossings …).
After this work, each highway graphic line was joined in an unique referenced graphic file with the whole road network. All the surveyed interference were photographed and its image was referenced by geographic coordinates.
Besides the GPS survey, it was performed an aerial survey at 1:20.000 scale for photo mosaic purpose at 1:5.000 scale on BR-116 and BR-277 highways.
